Edge To Edge Lip Pencil Machine
- Wear the liner alone over the entire lip, or team with your favourite MAC lipstick for a professional looking finish. Arriving in a variety of colours from muted nudes to lip-popping pinks, MAC has developed a lip pencil to complement an array of different lip colours.
- Cons of MAC Edge To Edge Lip Pencil: Not a hydrating formula; however, considering they are supposed to provide an iron-clad base for lipstick – one kind of expects them to be drying. You cannot really have an emollient formula as base for a lipstick. Tends to cling to dry patches, would suggest exfoliating lips before applying.
In addition to swatching my collection, I thought it would also be fun to share some of the MAC lipsticks that each lipliner pairs well with. These are just a few of my suggestions. The joy of lipliners is that you can literally pair them with anything. You can use them to “match” a lipstick, deepen a lipstick, use them INSTEAD of a lipstick etc.

Seeing as how brown lipsticks are trending right now, I thought I would introduce one of my new favorite lip colors – and compare it to it’s NYX dupe. Most MAC lipliners seem to have a similar color in the NYX line of lipliners, and after doing some research, word on the street is that the NYX liner in ‘Natural’ is a dupe for MAC’s ‘Stripdown’.
Personally, I don’t think these two liners are that close in color. ‘Natural’ is described as a deep-toned beige, while MAC describes ‘Stripdown’ as a creamy brown-beige.
As you’ll see from the above swatch, “Natural” definitely has more warm pink undertones, while ‘Stripdown’ is much more of a browny-beige. Both liners have great pigmentation and a similar creamy texture, making them both easy to apply.

As I’ve said in prior MAC/NYX dupe posts, the biggest difference between them is the price point. MAC lipliners run for $16, while NYX lipliners are only $3.50.
